Pia, Megan and Kylie lead the NYC Philippine Independence Day event
MANILA, Philippines - (From left) 2013 Miss World Megan Young, 2016 Miss International Kylie Verzosa and 2015 Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach were the stellar attraction at the Philippine Independence Day Celebration highlighted by a starry parade last Sunday that covered Madison Ave., 25th and 26th Streets and Park Avenue in New York City.
Now on its 27th year, the Philippine Independence Day Council, Inc. (PIDCI) with Dr. Prospero Lim on his second term as president, has been holding the event in cooperation with the several Filipino organizations in the East Coast. The PIDCI began as the Philippine Independence Day Committee in 1990 under the auspices of the Philippines Consulate General in New York.
Other beauty queens also participated, together with top singers Martin Nievera, Lani Misalucha and Jessica Sanchez, and US-based Fil-Am talents.
Neo Colors Productions & Advertising International, Inc. (NCPAII) COO Gina Reyes and Dr. Christine May Daguno-Canoy (NCPAII president and CEO) were present during the final meeting for the event, and also the Philippine Consulate and the Philippine Tourism Promotions Board (PTPB) COO Cesar Montano.
Other performers included Broadway stars Christine Allado (who is in Hamilton) and Lianah Sta. Ana (as Kim alternate in Miss Saigon).
