Gru, Minions back in town for 'Despicable Me 3'
MANILA, Philippines — The world’s favorite yellow creatures, the Minions, together with their villain boss Gru are back in town for the latest film, "Despicable Me 3" that will be showing on June 14 nationwide.
This time, Gru meets his long-lost and more successful twin brother, Dru, who he never knew about. They will team up for one last criminal act to steal a diamond that has been stolen by Gru’s new rival, Balthazar Bratt.
Released by Universal Pictures and directed by Pierre Coffin and Kyle Balda, the movie is a sure hit among kids and kids-at-heart not only because of the story line and the cuteness of three girls named Margo, Edith and Agnes, but also because of the wacky Minions, who has been dubbed by none other than the film’s director.
Starting May 31, the mischievous Minions will take over McDonald’s with the return of Despicable 3 Happy Meal. There are 10 new designs available to collect in every Happy Meal purchase. Each toy has its own unique personality and feature that includes the Playful Minion, Crab Bite Minion, Groovin Minion, Rocket Racer Minion, and Minion Antics, to name a few.
“Apart from sharing the same brand color which is yellow, we also share the same brand personality which is about being fun and being optimistic,” said Francis Almerante, senior product marketing of McDonald’s.
To make the meal “Minionized,” McDonald’s offers Despicable Me 3-themed menu items like Despicable Me Trio and Honey Banana McFloat N’ Fries Combos.
