Filipina represents Philippines at Coachella, meets 'Riverdale' cast

CALIFORNIA — Filipina YouTube vlogger (video blogger) Janina Vela represented the Philippines in the recently concluded Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in California.

During the festival, she met and took pictures with “Riverdale” stars Cole Sprouse (who plays Jughead Joens), Ross Butler (Reggie Mantle), Lili Reinhart (Betty Cooper), Camila Mendes (Veronica Lodge) and Casey Cott (Kevin Keller). “Riverdale” is a Netflix series based on the characters of Archie Comics.

Coachella is an annual music and arts fest held at the Empire Polo Club in Coachella Valley, California, in the Colorado Desert. Organized by Goldenvoice, the festival was founded by Paul Tollett and Rick Van Santen in 1999 and features artists from both the visual and the musical world. This year, the festival showcased artists from various musical genres, including independent, rock and hip hop.

In the festival, Vela wore pieces from Forever 21’s spring/summer 2017 collection, which offers a fresh take on urban sporty style, with cropped silhouettes and oversized layered ensembles in a palette of metallic silver, scarlet red, and black, featured alongside offbeat pops of neon yellow and royal blue.

Headlining the California-based fashion giant’s spring/summer 2017 campaign is Roc Nation singer Justine Skye.

In  a press statement, Skye said: “Fashion has always been an important part of my life…the festival collection reflects my personal style…”

The collection offers a new twist to the ‘90s street style, including graphic statement tees, metallic bodysuits, neon tops, distressed denim and cropped pieces that balance street and sexy styles. The men’s collection is a play on fashion staples such as basic shirts and denim with ‘90s band tees, plaid polos and distressed jackets and pants.

As one of the representatives of makeup brand Maybelline New York, Janina complemented her look with festival makeup. For summer, among Maybelline’s offerings are the Super Fresh BB Matte Cushion and Master Strobing Stick, designed to make one look fresh even under the festival sun.
