Kean Cipriano plans to finish college
MANILA, Philippines — Like the many graduates marching to collect their diplomas this time of the year, actor and rock star Kean Cipriano also hopes one day, to bring home a college diploma for his wife, actress Chynna Ortaleza and their daughter Stellar.
Kean and Chynna both took college courses at the University of Santo Tomas. He also attended the Entrepreneurs School of Asia with a degree in business administration.
In an interview with Philstar.com during the launch of eyewear brand Ray-Ban’s spring-summer collection, Kean narrated that he took up Commerce for a year, then a course in Conservatory of Music for another semester. He left school as his band Callalily got entangled with gigs.
He has done over 10 movies, including “Praybeyt Benjamin,” said to be the highest-grossing Filipino film of all time, together with comedian Vice Ganda.
This year, Kean anticipates the showing of his latest movie “Bar Boys” together with Carlo Aquino, Enzo Pineda and Rocco Nacino.
“Bar Boys” he said, is about law students, their friendship and their struggles in getting through law school. Unfortunately, in the movie, Kean is the only one who is not in the law school because as the story goes, he is the one who flunked in the entrance exam.
He admitted that in real life, he has also failed in a subject while studying Commerce. How did he deal with it? “I just moved on and transferred to another course,” he said.
Due to his tight showbiz schedule, he is not going back to school anytime soon. “But I’d love to. I wish I have the time.”
If he were to return to school, he wishes to take up Advertising. He clarified that he is going back to college not just for his daughter.
“It’s been a lifelong dream to have a diploma, to finish a course,” he noted.
“Pero meron din akong dreams of directing my full-length film. Actually, meron na akong scripts,” announced the actor, who finished a film course in Mowelfund.
His desire to become a director sparked when he played a director in his first movie “Ang Babae Sa Septic Tank” with Eugene Domingo.
He is aware that the youth look up to him as an example, so, besides chasing their dreams, he encourages them to finish their studies.
