Shawn Mendes illuminates Manila crowd

Canadian pop star Shawn Mendes is headlining is first all-arena tour.

MANILA, Philippines — Canadian singer Shawn Mendes kicked off his "Illuminate" album world tour in Manila last Saturday.

It was Shawn's first time to visit the Philippines. Prior to his show at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, the Canadian pop star visited tourist destination in the country.

Shawn opened his Manila show with an acoustic version of "Something Big," one of the hits from his first album, "Handwritten."

A jampacked arena sang along with Shawn as he sang songs from his second album, including "Ruin," "Mercy," "Treat You Better," "Three Empty Words," and "Patience."

The Canadian singer also performed a medley of the songs from his first album - "I Don't Even Know Your Name," "Aftertaste," and "Kid in Love."

As the show drew to a close, Shawn sat down at the piano and sang "Life of the Party" and "Stitches."

"Thank you, Manila. I'll come back soon," Shawn told his Filipino fans as he exited the stage.

Shawn is headlining his first all-arena tour. He will perform next in Japan before heading to Europe for 21 shows and North America for 29 shows.
