Brothers De la Rosa co-star in Garrison 13

Publicity portrait of Rogelio and Mila, Linda and Jaime

Two very popular big screen brothers in the ‘40s and ‘50s were Rogelio de la Rosa and his younger brother Jaime. The first and only time they co-starred was in the 1946 LVN movie Garrison 13, where they portrayed guerrilla brothers during World War II.

Rogelio and Jaime’s leading ladies were Mila del Sol and Linda Estrella, respectively.

When their movie years were over in the ‘60s, they served in the government. Rogelio became senator and ambassador, while Jaime worked in Manila City Hall as head of its cultural office.

Aside from appearing in LVN movies, the brothers De la Rosa also starred in films produced by other studios. Rogelio appeared in Sampaguita films, mostly opposite Carmen Rosales, their love team becoming immensely popular. Jaime was the leading man of Edna Luna in Premiere’s Dyesebel, directed by future National Artist Gerry de Leon and created by the legendary komiks novelist Mars Ravelo. — RKC
