3 former Miss U winners arrive in Philippines ahead of coronation

MANILA, Philippines — Three ladies who previously held Miss Universe crown arrived in the Philippines ahead of the coronation on Monday.

Miss Universe title holders Dayanara Torres of Puerto Rico, Sushmita Sen of India, and Riyo Mori of Japan are now on Philippine soil.

Miss Universe 1993 Dayanara, former UNICEF ambassador, author, actress and model, arrived in the country on Wednesday. 

She is among the judges for the pageant’s preliminary show and coronation.

Dayanara first arrived in the country in 1994 when she crowned her successor Sushmita. She stayed in the country longer and accepted acting and hosting stints, including Sunday noontime show ASAP.

In her Instagram account, Dayanara said she signed back with entertainment management Manila Genesis again although she did not specify her project.

Meanwhile, Sushmita, the first ever Miss Universe titleholder of India, arrived on Thursday afternoon. She is now a Bollywood actress, philanthropist and champion of women’s rights in India and founder of I AM Foundation.

During her arrival, Sushmita said she was happy to be back. She even wore former Miss Universe-Philippines bet Charlene Gonzales’s earrings.

On the other hand, Riyo, the second Miss Universe titleholder of Japan, landed in the Philippines on Monday. She is now an actress, model and dancer in Japan.
