Kapamilya stars as one family in Christmas special
It is a tradition during Christmas for families to come together and celebrate the Yuletide season. This tradition is no different for ABS-CBN, as over 200 Kapamilya stars gathered and gave thanks to fans for their overwhelming support through the years in Isang Pamilya Tayo: The ABS-CBN Christmas Special, held at the Araneta Coliseum.
It was a full Christmas treat for thousands of fans that filled the Big Dome as they witnessed their favorite Kapamilya stars giving world-class performances that added sparkle to the celebration.
In his Christmas message, ABS-CBN chairman Eugenio Lopez III said, “Christmas, just like change, is permanent in our world. This season, let us come together as one family despite the changes that have happened in our society.”
ABS-CBN chief content officer Charo Santos-Concio, meanwhile, gave thanks to viewers for their love and support through the years. “I thank you all for your stories that you continue to share through Maalaala Mo Kaya (MMK) for 25 years. Your stories have inspired us to be hopeful despite life’s trials,” she said.
For ABS-CBN president and CEO Carlo Katigbak, every Christmas is more meaningful when we celebrate it as one family. He added, “With the changes, trials and misunderstandings that we went through this 2016, we assure you that there is still hope for our country and for our families.”
Leading the celebration were love teams KathNiel (Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla), JaDine (James Reid and Nadine Lustre) and LizQuen (Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil), with Piolo Pascual, John Lloyd Cruz, Jericho Rosales, Zanjoe Marudo, Xian Lim, Gerald Anderson and the rest of the dashing stars of ABS-CBN, which brought kilig to viewers.
Also joining the celebration were the cast of FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano led by Coco Martin with child stars Awra Briguela and Onyok Pineda and the rest of the cast that sang and danced to hit OPM novelty songs.
ABS-CBN comedy programs also brought laughter with the cast of Banana Split, Home Sweetie Home and Goin’ Bulilit dancing to some of the most popular party music.
Also joining the celebration are The Voice Kids coaches Lea Salonga, Sharon Cuneta, Sarah Geronimo, Bamboo who sang the ABS-CBN Christmas station ID Isang Pamilya Tayo.
Viewers also had a huge good vibes treat as Vice Ganda, Anne Curtis, Vhong Navarro, Billy Crawford and the rest of the It’s Showtime family gave a spectacular song-and-dance performance.
Music was also one of the highlights of the show with Tawag ng Tanghalan finalists and hurados singing some of the best OPM classics.
Sarah, Anne, Billy and Darren Espanto made the audience groove as they sang some of the biggest ’80s hits.
ASAP’s Birit Queens Jona, Morisette Amon, Angeline Quinto and Klarisse, joined by Jaya, Rhada, Dulce and Bituin Escalante, received loud applauses as they proved their vocal prowess in one powerful performance. ASAP Soul Sessions’ Jay-R, Kyla, KZ Tandingan and Jason Dy also impressed viewers with their own rendition of novelty songs Tatlong Bibe, PPAP and Pak Ganern.
Erik Santos, Bamboo, Martin Nievera, Robert Seña, Daryl Ong, Jason and Jed Madela also brought the house down with their soothing voices.
Meanwhile, Maja Salvador, Kim Chiu, Gerald Anderson, Shaina Magdayao, Amy Perez, Vhong Navarro, Yassi Pressman, Arjo Atayde, Sam Concepcion, Ritz Azul and other Kapamilya stars celebrated the gift of dance in their spectacular dance number.
The Araneta stage was heated up by Jessy Mendiola, Coleen Garcia, Enzo Pineda and Vin Abrenica with a production number.
Aside from dance and music, the night was also about kilig as teen idols Bailey May, Ylona Garcia, Joshua Garcia, Julia Barretto, Ronnie Alonte, Jairus Aquino, Sharlene San Pedro and other popular teen stars made viewers giddy in their number.
The program ended with the stars thanking their fans and greeting everyone a merry Christmas by singing It’s Christmas All Over the World.
