MANILA, Philippines — Philippines' Catriona Gray reached the final five in Miss World 2016.
The 22-year-old Australian-Filipino model from Bicol competed with 116 other candidates where Miss Puerto Rico, Stephanie Del Valle, was crowned the new Miss World.
Miss World 2015, Spain's representative Mireia Lalaguna passed on her crown to Del Valle.
Other candidates who made it to the top five aside from Gray and Del Valle were representatives from Kenya, Evelyn Njambi Thungu; Indonesia’s Mannuela; and Dominican Republic’s Yaritza Miguelina Reyes Ramirez.

The international pageant’s Grand Final Night was held at the MGM National Harbor in Maryland, USA early Monday morning (Philippine time). It was hosted by Miss World 2013 Megan Young of the Philippines and American actor Jason Cook.
Prior to Gray landing the top five, she also won one of the fast track challenges, Multimedia, which automatically secured her spot in the top 20. She also placed second in the talent competition.

Gray was among the finalists for the "Beauty with a Purpose" segment where Indonesia’s representative, Natasha Mannuela, won.
Miss World 2016 had a delayed telecast in the country which started airing on GMA-7 at 8 a.m.
