MANILA, Philippines — Philippine bet Catriona Gray is officially part of the top 20 of Miss World 2016.
The 22-year-old Australian-Filipino model who hails from Bicol made it to the top roster after she won the Multimedia fast track challenge of the international pageant. The winners of the fast track challenge automatically secure a spot in the top 20.
Miss World announced the winners of the fast track challenges on its Facebook page. Catriona was not only named Multimedia winner but she also placed second in the talent competition where Miss Mongolia’s Bayartsetseg Altangerel won.
Catriona was also named among the finalists for the “Beauty with a Purpose” with her Paraiso Bright Beginnings project. She seeks to provide free and accessible education for underprivileged children of all ages up to college, as well as school sponsorship programs for the youth of Smokey Mountain.
She teamed up with a non-government organization founded by Paul Ann van Wigerden in Netherlands in 1992 for this project. Catriona’s Paraiso Bright Beginnings fundraising project was also posted on her blog.
The Philippine bet is an advocate of helping the youth. She also visited young patients at the Philippine General Hospital and Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital during her homecoming while calling for blood donations, among others.
Catriona is set to compete with 116 other candidates in Miss World in Maryland, USA on Monday morning (Philippine time). It will be aired at GMA-7 at 8 a.m.
The winner for the Beauty with a Purpose will also be announced during the coronation night.
