Top shuttlers face national bets in MVP national juniors
MANILA, Philippines – The best and the brightest from all over the country will get a chance to clash with some national team mainstays when the National Finals of the MVP National Juniors Championships unfolds tomorrow at the Limketkai Mall in Cagayan de Oro City.
According to tournament director Yoly Araullo of the organizing Forthright Events and Sports Management, Inc., there will be a team manager’s meeting today before the competition proper unfurls the next day with host Mayor Oca Moreno formally ushering the three-day event.
More than a hundred shuttlers have survived the gruelling qualifiers in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao and will converged in the finale with an eye of not only winning their respective age brackets but also get the golden chance of making it to the national team.
Some members of the national squad including Solomon Padiz Jr., Susmita Angelique Ramos, Jelienne Geviane de Vera, Jochele Alvarez, Deon Ronald Omana and Nestor Tapales Jr. are also joining.
“This is part of the MVP Sports Foundation in helping strengthen the grassroots development program in badminton,” said Smart Sports’ Christopher “Epok” Quimpo. “We’re here to keep searching for those players we hope will be the future of the sport.”
