Tim Yap cries foul over drug allegations, urges public to be fair
MANILA, Philippines — Tim Yap on Wednesday aired his sentiments following speculations that he is involved in illegal drug transactions.
President Rodrigo Duterte few weeks ago threatened to release a list of celebrities involved in the vile transactions, in lieu with his campaign against illegal drugs. Tim Yap, publicly known as a socialite and eventologist, was immediately accused of being a “supplier of party drugs.”
After keeping mum, The STAR columnist finally addressed the issue which had been hammering him for weeks.
In an interview with DZBB Super Radyo, Yap cried foul and said the accusations are "below the belt."
"Sa akin, medyo below the belt na paratangan ako na nagbebenta ng droga," The STAR columnist said.
Yap insisted that he is living a healthy lifestyle and that he would not stop the authorities if they want to put him under surveillance because he is not hiding anything.
"Hindi ko po alam [sino ang nagli-link sakin sa illegal drugs]. Sana maging mas matalino ang tao para hindi nila basta paniwalaan ang nababasa nila online," Yap pleaded to people who malign him.
Yap, who co-owns high-end bars in the city such as Valkyrie, Aracama, Prive and Gramercy revealed that he, along with other bar owners in Metro Manila, have long been coordinating with Philippine National Police (PNP) Director General Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa in the government’s anti-drug campaign, making the accusations ridiculous.
He added that he is very willing to cooperate with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and PNP to solve the illegal drugs trade problem. - Alixandra Caole Vila
