Brave, bold movies

MANILA, Philippines - People will always be looking for adventures. But how daring can you go? Would you climb the highest mountain? Would you dive into the deepest part of the sea? Would you explore the forest? Would you venture into a cave?

Being bold and daring may sound cool, but it pays to be careful and know your limits. Watch these movies and find out why.

Sanctum (2011). A team of cave explorers eyes on diving into the unsafe and unexplored part of a cave. Just as expected, things go wrong and there are always those who just don’t know when to stop. There are times when being adventurous means being responsible for one’s self and others.

Everest (2015). Based on real events, the movie is about a team of mountain explorers heading for Everest. They camped, survived the cold and stayed strong. Sadly, the turnout wasn’t a success and lives were lost. Expeditions like this are obviously dangerous. These people are thrill seekers.

Anaconda films. The film series usually follows a group of daring explorers or scientists going into the wild and ending up being attacked by gigantic snakes. It may seem senseless that they still push through knowing that there can be danger but they are who we call “daringly adventurous.”

Pirates of the Caribbean (film series). Every Pirates of the Caribbean film is all about adventures. It’s just a matter of either the film is fascinating or creepy. In any case, viewers love it and they will always include it in their list of favorites. It seems like Capt. Jack Sparrow and the rest of the crew have made the right decision to go just about anywhere where there is adventure.

Green Inferno (2013). A group of students bravely go to the Amazon forest to stop the illegal operations of a logging company. With all the dangers that they know they’re going to face, they still go on. They are unaware that they will be facing a tribe that wants more than just keeping them as hostages. If you feel like a place is dangerous, trust your instinct.

Journey to the Center of the Earth. Using Jules Verne’s book and some notes from the past, a group of people starts a journey that will take them to a destination they have never thought existed. With all the strange places and odd creatures in the film, viewers are taken to an adventure of their lives.

1408 (2007). If there is a job that requires courage and skepticism, then Mike Enslin is the perfect fit for it. He goes to haunted hotels and writes about his spooky encounters. It all seems unreal to him, until he has checked in at Dolphin Hotel’s room 1408. Something is happening, and this time, it’s for real. It looks like he’s finally going to have a true story to share.

The Mummy (1999). When Evelyn, a librarian and an Egyptian history enthusiast, carelessly awakens a mummy, Rick has no choice but to be involved and help her. They are always together. Even if  they can simply walk away, Evelyn and Rick feel that it’s their responsibility to stop a mummy who is seriously angry and powerful.

Into the Wild. Leaving all the comforts of home behind him, Christopher decides to embark on a journey without any plans and knowledge of what to expect. He dares to experience and explore the places most people will not dare go and stay. For what reason? Well, that is between Christopher and the wild. He is definitely brave.

127 Hours. Mountain climber Aron Ralston is just doing his usual adventure when he accidentally falls down and gets stuck. Without anybody responding to his call for help, he desperately tries all measures to survive. With the five-day and seven-hour ordeal, Aron has survived.
