Movie-ads cover for Bagong Buhay

Like many magazines of the ‘40s and ‘50s, Bagong Buhay featured movie ads on its cover.

Two of the cover starred Leopoldo Salcedo, then the busiest actor along with Rogelio de la Rosa and Jose Padilla.

The Salcedo starrers are both action-drama: Capas with Celia Flor and Sierra Madre with Vida Florante and Nela Alvarez (the grandmother of former child superstar Niño Muhlach, whose mother is Rebecca Rocha). The two movies were produced by LVN.

The two other ads were the love drama Kay Ganda ng Umaga, starring Anita Linda and Efren Reyes, and Isang Dakot na Bigas, tearjerker topbilled by Ester Magalona, Carlos Padilla and Reynaldo Dante. Both were produced by Premiere. —RKC
