Lea Salonga on Rachelle Ann Go’s theater success: It’s her destiny

MANILA, Philippines – Lea Salonga is all praises for Rachelle Ann Go for her newest endeavor.

Rachelle is in the country for the Philippine leg of the stage musical “Les Miserables,” where she stars as Fatine, a role which was once portrayed by Lea Salonga.

“I’m so happy for her!” exclaimed Lea when asked for her reaction on Rachelle’s theater success, in an interview aired in “Bandila” on Thursday.

Now that the theater musical is here in the country, “every Filipino who walks in that theater and sits down and sees her should feel honoured that they’re getting to watch her,” Lea said.

Asked what characteristics a successful stage actress should possess, the international star replied, “Puso, ‘yong honesty, integrity... ‘yong emotional openness , ‘yon ang mahirap hanapin.”

The Asian audition for “Miss Saigon” happened this week, and everyone is excited to find out who will follow the footsteps of Lea, Rachelle Ann, Joana Ampil and other Filipinos who made it big internationally.
