With the great success of their top-rating series Forevermore, Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil — one of the country’s hottest love teams — return to give primetime viewers a taste of love’s sweetness on ABS-CBN’s newest romantic drama Dolce Amore.
After making the entire country fall in love and believe in forever, Liza and Enrique take on Dolce Amore as two youthful souls in search of who they really are, brought together by destiny with an infallible connection with one another — something that only they will believe in. “It’s a project almost everyone can relate to since it tells of finding one’s identity and finding love, with a story that is lots of fun as it is uplifting,” says Liza.
Liza plays Serena, a young girl raised in Italy by her adoptive parents. Even as she lives a good life, she simply cannot shake off the feeling that an important part of her identity is missing which is the truth of her past. In exactly the same struggle is the character of Enrique (Tenten), who grew up in an orphanage suffering from the pain of his real parents’ rejection. The hardworking Tenten takes on different jobs to help his adoptive family.
It’s a “peasant meets a princess” kind of feel. It’s a very light teleserye, like what we all love — kind of Forevermore feels, shared Enrique. Aside from Forevermore, the success of LizQuen was also translated on the big screen, with Just The Way You Are and Every Day I Love You which have become certified box-office hits. Moreover, Liza said that fans should expect her team-up with Enrique to level up in terms of kilig, and that they will be more open to experimenting with their characters in Dolce Amore.
Serena and Tenten’s worlds will collide when Serena, in search of herself, wanders off and travels to the Philippines, a country she is strangely drawn to and has heard about from her Filipina nanny. From their unexpected meet-up, the two will discover a sense of belonging with one another, and will find themselves exploring the greatest adventure of all — that of falling in love.
Liza and Matteo Guidicelli in a scene shot in Italy
Matteo Guidicelli, meanwhile, plays the role of Giancarlo, Serena’s best friend who is secretly in love with her. During the presscon, Matteo was asked how he got to play the character and replied, “I actually wanted to focus on an album last year. But they told me I would play an Italian character. When I lost my lolo last year, his dream for me was to play a film in Italy in Italian. I told myself, it’s not going to happen. Why would ABS-CBN gamble on an Italian-speaking character? But it did happen and this soap is very close to my heart, as everyone knows now.”
Playing as Liza’s adoptive parents in the series are Cherie Gil (Luciana) and Ruben Maria Soriquez (Roberto), while Edgar Mortiz (Dodoy), Rio Locsin (Paps) and Kean Cipriano (Binggoy) will depict Enrique’s simple but loving adoptive family. Also included in the Dolce Amore cast are Sunshine Cruz, Andrew E and Frenchie Dy.
In an interview with the cast, Ruben Maria got Matteo speaking Italian, Sunshine Cruz said it was nice to be back, ditto from Andrew E. Cherie loved being back with “all these beautiful people” although Liza felt intimidated working with her. Edgar and Rio claimed it was a long time ago that they had this much fun. Meanwhile, the team-up of Liza and Enrique has become stronger with each project.
