MANILA, Philippines – Ella Cruz focuses all her time in her career, especially now that her talent management Viva is lining up a series of projects for her.
“Priority ko ang work. Lalo na ngayon marami ng work, so do'n tayo mag-focus,” she said in an interview on Wednesday.
This is the reason why despite Bret Jackson’s admiration to her, their relationship didn’t blossom, but still they remained friends with each other.
“Kasi naman dati pa lang sinasabi ko na mas priority ko work, sinabi ko ‘yon sa kanya,” she explained. “Sabi ko mas okay na rin na maging friends kami, so friends pa rin kami until now. Katulad ng dati, gano’n pa rin.”
In a previous interview, Bret also said he doesn’t want to hinder Ella from pursuing her career in showbiz, but said she remains a “special girl” to him.

In case love comes knocking on her door, Ella said she would not immediately jump into it.
“Ang pinunta ko dito is pag-aartista, so bakit ko i-sacrifice? Ang tagal-tagal ko hinintay ‘to,” she said. “Kapag gamay ko na kung paano pagsabayin [ang love at work], tsaka siguro ako magka-boyfriend.”
Ella is now paired to Akihiro Blanco for the “Wattpad TV Movies Presents: Avah Maldita.”
The weekly “Wattpad Presents” story will now be aired on Saturdays for one and a half hours, starting February 6, 9 p.m. on TV5.
