MANILA, Philippines - Resorts World Manila (RWM), in cooperation with Hi Definition Radio, Inc., presents an exclusive one-night-only event that will make for an unforgettable musical treat as Grammy award winner, trumpeter and composer Chris Botti, featuring Sting, takes the stage for Up Close and Personal at the Marriott Grand Ballroom on March 3 at 8 p.m.
Since the release of his 2004 critically-acclaimed CD When I Fall In Love, Botti has become the largest-selling American instrumental artist. His success has crossed over to audiences usually reserved for pop music and his ongoing association with PBS has led to four No. 1 jazz albums, as well as multiple Gold, Platinum and Grammy awards. Most recently, his latest album Impressions won the Best Pop Instrumental Album at the 2013 55th Grammy Awards. Performing worldwide and selling over four million albums, he has found a form of creative expression that begins in jazz and expands beyond the limits of any single genre.
Grammy Award-winning musician, singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, activist, actor and philanthropist Sting was the principal songwriter, lead singer and bassist for the new wave rock band The Police from 1977 to 1983, before launching a successful solo career with hits such as Fragile, Englishman in New York, Fields of Gold, If I Ever Lose My Faith in You and Brand New Day.
As a solo musician and a member of The Police, Sting is one of the world’s best-selling music artists. He has received 16 Grammy awards, his first for Best Rock Instrumental in 1984, three Brit awards, including Best British Male in 1994 and Outstanding Contribution in 2002, a Golden Globe, an Emmy and three Academy Award nominations for Best Original Song. He was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2002 and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of The Police in 2003. Most recently, he received a Tony nomination for his score written for the Broadway musical, The Last Ship.
The post-Valentine concert brings together for the first time in the Philippines two iconic musicians of contemporary pop and jazz in a one-of-a-kind intimate setting for audiences via stage seats.
