Regine Velasquez gears up for upcoming shows
MANILA, Philippines - Regine Velasquez is preparing for two big projects with her home network GMA.
The Asia's Song Bird will do a TV series and a comedy variety show this year. This is in addition to her current show "Sarap Diva."
"Actually right after this concert, I'm gonna start shooting na," she said about her upcoming TV series, in an interview on Wednesday. "Hindi ko pa pwedeng sabihin ang mga details kasi unfortunately something happened na parang na-hold muna ang mga kailangan namin gawin for the project. So wala pa rin akong ma-share. But definitely I'm doing a soap this year."
For now, Regine is focused with her Valentine concert "Royals," together with Martin Nievera, Erik Santos and Angeline Quinto. It will happen on February 13 in SM Mall of Asia Arena, and on February 14 at Waterfront Hotel and Casino in Cebu.
Regine is happy to be working with the two of the industry's balladeers. Although she admitted feeling pressured about being a "role model" to them.
"Nakaka-pressure rin, parang syempre we're only humans," she explained. "So we also make mistakes. Syempre we want to be positive role models for these kids."
"Pero nakakatuwa, nakakataba ng puso," she added.
She also defended Angeline and Erik to those who believe that the two are not ready to be tagged as "royals" based on the title of their concert.
"Para sa akin hindi naman 'yon [importante]," she said about being on the same "level" with her co-performers.
She then recalled the time when "I started in the business, nag-uumpisa pa lang ako at bago, Martin Nievera was already Martin Nievera during that time, and he did a concert with me."
Regine then explained that Erik and Angeline deserve to be called royals because of their ability and what they've done in the industry.
"So they deserve to be part of this concert and to be called royals." she said.
