‘Crying Bae’ marks 24th birthday with loved ones

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Television’s ‘Crying Bae’ did it again last Saturday when he marked his 24th birthday on Eat, Bulaga!

Alden Richards was, as usual, clowning around with co-hosts and audience contestants, singing a duet with his father Richard Faulkerson and then welcoming his former teachers and classmates (at the Colegio de Sta. Rosa de Lima in Laguna) who paid him a surprise visit.

Towards the end, Alden held hands with his team-mate Maine Mendoza and almost, but not quite kissed, when the enthusiastic audience persistently asked them to.

It was when Maine started showering Alden with praises that he started to break down, saying he had been holding back tears from the beginning of the telecast, confirming his status as a ‘Crying Bae.’ More copious tears as he dedicated his success to his late mom.

He also shed tears not once but twice when, a few weeks back, he received ‘gold’ awards for his albums.

2015 was a blissful, ‘blessing-ful’ year for Alden (and Maine) whose first movie together, My Bebe Love (with Vic Sotto and Ai-Ai delas Alas) topped the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), with Maine bagging a Best Supporting Actress award.

The Bulaga birthday episode was capped with Alden and the three lolas (Nidora, Tidora and Tinidora) sharing the Maine-bow Cake that Maine baked specially for Alden.
