Kalyeserye Lolas wow Dapitanons

DAPITAN CITY, Philippines — Eat, Bulaga! dabarkads and Kalyeserye stars Jose Manalo (Lola Tinidora) and Wally Bayola (Lola Nidora) recently brought cheer and laughter to Dapitanons at the Gloria de Dapitan in this history-rich city of Zamboanga del Norte.

Jose and Wally, who came in their lola characters and accompanied by Eat, Bulaga! director Poochie Rivera, thanked their Dapitanon fans for following Eat, Bulaga! and its Kalyeserye segment.

“We’re happy to be here in Dapitan and visit our dabarkads,” said direk Poochie. “As per Kalyeserye, we don’t have a long-term plan for AlDub and we cannot predict how long the show will continue to smash TV ratings. We plan the show on a day-to-day basis. Kung ano ang nangyari sa araw or sa week na ito, ’yun (karugtong) ang pag-iisipan naman namin para sa mga susunod na episode.”

During the event, the comic duo performed several covers including Sana Ngayong Pasko and Kung Mawawala Ka. They also danced to Lou Bega’s Mambo No. 5 and Dawin’s Dessert.

Another highlight of the night was the lighting of the country’s biggest and newest Giant Animated Christmas Display titled A Christmas Story: Ang Pasko Nang Pilipinas. The display is a Christmas gift from Jalosjos Family to their beloved Dapitanons. It is composed of 150 figures that depict how Filipinos are united by their faith during the Yuletide season. The show was directed by Svetlana “Lana” Jalosjos-De Leon.

After the jam-packed show, Wally and Jose headed to the grand opening of Mi Department Store. The store, also located within the compound of Gloria de Dapitan, offers ladies’ and men’s apparel and office and school supplies from Sterling. Aside from the newly-opened Mi Department Store, Gloria de Dapitan is also home to Gloria’s Fantasyland, the first and only amusement park in Visayas and Mindanao; computer game arcade; resto bars; souvenir shops; bowling center; gym; spa center and the Sugba-Sugba Atbp. Barbecue Grill Restaurant.

Gracing the event were former Zamboanga del Norte Rep. Romeo Jalosjos, Dapitan City Mayor Rosalinda Jalosjos with the city councilors and tourism officers, former Zamboanga del Norte Gov. Rolando Yebes, Tampilisan Mayor Alson Chan, Sterling Global owner Jerry Lim and Unang Hirit hosts Tonipet Gaba and Maey Bautista.
