Miss Colombia: Everything happens for a reason
MANILA, Philippines — The visibly dazed Ariadna Gutierrez of Colombia says she is "still happy" for what she accomplished in the 64th Miss Universe on Sunday (Monday morning, Philippine time) even after a hosting gaffe.
Gutierrez was erroneously announced as the winner of the 2015 Miss Universe by show host Steve Harvey instead of Philippines's Pia Wurtzbach.
But in a quick video posted on Miss Universe's social media accounts, the Colombian said: "Everything happens for a reason."

"Thank you for all. Thank you for voting for me," Gutierrez said.

Pia herself reacted to the gaffe and called it a "non-traditional crowning moment."

Shortly after Sunday night's confusion, Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos tweeted a message on his official account to Ariadna Gutierrez. "For us, you will continue being Miss Universe! We are very proud!"

Presidential spokesman Edwin Lacierda, meanwhile, did not address the controversial win but said, "In bagging this victory, Ms. Wurtzbach not only serves as a tremendous source of pride for our people, but also holds up the banner of our women and of our country-as a true representative of what the Filipina can achieve."
It's the third time a contestant from the Philippines has won the title, while it could have been the second win in a row for Colombia. — with the Associated Press
