MANILA, Philippines — It is perhaps one of television's greatest, most surprising moments this year.

In a bizarre twist, the Philippines's bet Pia Wurtzbach was proclaimed the 64th Miss Universe on Sunday (Monday morning, Philippine time) several seconds after Ariadna Gutiérrez of Colombia was mistakenly named by show host Steve Harvey as the contest winner.

The 26-year-old beauty queen, along with the other 78 candidates, were surprised with the turn of events--and even 2014 Miss Universe Paulina Vega of Colombia couldn't hide her shock with the mistake.

Had Ariadna won this year's Miss Universe, it would have been a back-to-back win for Colombians.

But instead, the Philippines won its third Miss Universe crown. This is also the Philippines's third international beauty pageant win this year, with Angelia Ong winning Miss Earth earlier this month and Ann Colis winning the Miss Globe.
