Gerphil is Aliw’s Entertainer of the Year

MANILA, Philippines - Gerphil Flores (photo), who placed second in the last Asia’s Got Talent, copped the 2015 Aliw Entertainer of the Year award at the 28th Annual Aliw awards presentation held last Dec. 13 at the Star Theater.

Formerly known as Fame Flores, the singer was adjudged Best Female Classical Performer and Best Crossover Performer before being chosen to win Aliw’s top award.

Previous Entertainer of the Year awardees were Jed Madela and prima ballerina Lisa Macuja-Elizalde.

Other 2015 winners were: Daniel Padilla, Best Male Performer in Mall Shows; Sarah Geronimo, Best Female Performer in Mall Shows; Lyca Gairanod, Best Child Performer; David Ezra, Best New Male Artist; Monica Cuenco, Best New Female Artist; NDM Singers, Best New Group; Junior New System, Best Dance Company; LNU Sirang Theater Ensemble, Tacloban, Best Cultural Group; CEU Singers, Best Choral Group; Bambanti Festival of Isabela, Best Festival Practices and Performance; Merjohn Lagaya, Best Instrumentalist; Issa Litton, Best Female Emcee; Njel de Mesa, Best Male Emcee; Arnell Ignacio, Best Stand-Up Comedian; Dawna Mangahas, Best Classical Dancer; Al Gatmaitan, Best Male Classical Performer.

The 2015 Special awards went to Danny Dolor, Herminigildo Ranera, Basilidas Pilapil Jr., Leonilo Agustin and St. Anne Theater and Dance Company of Taguig, Rizal.

Elevated to the Hall of Fame were Ballet Manila, Toni Gonzaga, Liesl Batucan and Tanghalang SLU.

A first was the Alice Hernandez Reyes Achievement Award which was presented to Public Attorney Office (PAO) chief Persida Rueda Acosta and Rep. Amado Bagatsing. Also a first was the Breakthrough Performers of the Year Award which went to GMA 7’s AlDub.

Lifetime Achievement Awards were received by Roxanne Lapus, Joonee Gamboa and Miguel Faustmann.

The 28th Aliw Awards was presented by the AADI, Eagle Broadcasting Corporation, Star Theater and 8 Trimedia Pro. It was directed by Roxanne Lapus, with Butch Miraflot as musical director.

It was supported by Heaven’s Best, Sogo, Absolute and Don Benito’s Cassava Cakes. Its media partners are DZRH, Manila Times, Journal Group of Publications, GNN and United Daily News and United Daily Press.

The awards presentation will be aired on NET 25 on Dec. 27 at 8 p.m.
