2 Philippine indies nominated in London film festival

MANILA, Philippines - Two Phl indie films got nine nominations at the eighth International Filmmaker Festival of World Cinema in the United Kingdom set for Feb. 18 to 26, 2016.

ARI (My Life with A King) by Carlo Enciso Catu was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film, Talented New Director (Catu), Best Actor for a Foreign Language Film (photo, Ronwaldo Martin, left), Best Original Screenplay for a Foreign Language Film (Robby Tantingco) and Best Editing for a Foreign Language Film (Carlo Francisco Manatad).

Laut, the third indie film of Luisito “Louie” Ignacio, was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film, Best Director for a Foreign Language Film (Ignacio), Best Original Screenplay for a Foreign Language Film (Catu, Tantingco and Ysagani Ybarra) and Best Editing for a Foreign Language Film (Vanessa de Leon).

ARI recently won for Catu Best World Film in Harlem, New York City, and Best Debut Director in Kochi, India.
