Megan hosts Miss World pageant

MANILA, Philippines - 2013 Miss World Megan Young is in China to host the 2015 Miss World finals on Dec. 19 to be staged in Beauty Crown Grand Theater with 114 contestants competing, among them Philippine bet Hillarie Ang Parungao (left photo, with Megan).

Aside from crowning her successor last year, Megan (right photo, with 2014 Miss World Rolene Strauss and Julia Morley, head of the Miss World Organization) also hosted the 2014 edition coronation night along with Access Hollywood’s Tim Vincent and 2013 Mr. World Canada Frankie Cena, the pageant’s web presenter.

Hillarie wrote in her official Miss World-Philippines Facebook page: “Filipinas for the world! A very busy day wouldn’t look very busy at all as long as we are inspired by the people around us. Yesterday (Dec. 12) my idol Megan arrived. Her presence of Megan, my Aces&Queens sister/mentor/friend gave me a sense of peace and I was very happy to know that I’m not the only one to carry the Philippine symbol...”

Last Friday, Dec. 11, Hillarie was one of the 30 contestants chosen to battle it out in the Top Model Challenge Event. On Sunday, Dec. 13, wearing their world-designer gowns, the 30 beauties showcased their catwalk prowess, projection and rhythm on the runway in the 150-meter long hall of the Beauty Crown Grand Tree Hotel. Hillarie was in a Mak Tumang original. The 29 other contenders are from Albania, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Brazil, Cameroon, China, Code D’Ivore, Ethiopia, France, Georgia, Honduras, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, Lebanon, Netherlands, Paraguay, Poland, Puerto Rico, Russia, South Africa, South Sudan, Spain, Sweden, Venezuela and Vietnam.

Earlier, Hillarie was also part of the Top 30 challengers in the Talent event.
