Music stars grace MBC choral tilt

MANILA, Philippines - Special guest artists will brighten up the Aliw Theater stage when Manila Broadcasting Company (MBC) and Star City mount the 2015 MBC National Choral Competitions next week.

Luke Mejares fires the opening salvo tomorrow, Dec. 8, followed by Kean Cipriano and Eunice on Dec. 9.  Jason Dy  then takes to the stage on Dec. 10, with 90.7 Love Radio’s Papa Jack on Dec. 11. For the grand finals on Dec. 12, Tanya Chinita of 101.1 Yes-FM and the J Brothers band are set to wow audiences.

Forty-four of the country’s top chorales will be trading musical notes as they vie for the 2015 MBC National Choral Competition championships. P150,000 is at stake for the grand champion in the open category, and P100,000 is up for grabs in the children’s division, thanks to generous support from Alaska, Shell, Hapee Toothpaste, Coca-Cola, Cobra Energy Drink, Speed Detergent, M. Lhuiller, Jollibee, Dunkin’ Donuts and the Philippine Choral Directors Association.

Winners of the semifinal rounds will compete in the grand finals, with the children’s choir champion taking home over P100,000 and the open category winner receiving P150,000 in cash and kind. The public is invited to watch on all five nights. Showtime is at 7 p.m. Admission is free.
