MANILA, Philippines – GMA-7 actor Alden Richards and ABS-CBN actress Maja Salvador are the big winners at the 29th Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC) Star Awards for Television held at the Kia Theater in Quezon City on Thursday.

Alden was named Best Drama Actor for his role in the GMA-7 mini-series “Illustrado,” where he played Jose Rizal. Meanwhile, Maja won Best Drama Actress for her role in the ABS-CBN drama series “Bridges of Love.”

The 23-year-old actor—who is currently one of showbiz’s most popular actors thanks to his part in the Kalyeserye segment of the noontime variety show “Eat Bulaga”—bested Daniel Padilla, Gerald Anderson, Eddie Garcia, Gerald Anderson, Piolo Pascual and Maja’s “Bridges of Love” co-stars Paulo Avelino and Jericho Rosales
Apart from the best actor award, Alden also received the German Moreno's Power Tandem special award with Maine “Yaya Dub” Mendoza, with Enrique Gil and Liza Sobereano as co-recipients.
He was nominated in the Best Talent Show Program Host category with Regine Velasquez for their work in the GMA-7 show “Bet ng Bayan,” although the award went to Billy Crawford for his work in the ABS-CBN show “Your Face Sounds Familiar.”

Meanwhile, Maja won the award over seven other actresses including Angelica Panganiban and Jodi Sta. Maria of “Pangako Sa’Yo.”
Vice Ganda and Anne Curtis won the Best Male TV Host and Best Female TV Host awards for "It's Showtime, Jason Gainza is Best Comedy Actor for "Banana Split" and Rufa Mae Quinto is Best Comedy Actress for "Bubble Gang."
ABS-CBN won the Best TV Station award.
