“I was about to go dark, I was bitter, I was not in a good place,” recalled Mariel about her second miscarriage in an interview in the ABS-CBN late-night talk show “Tonight With Boy Abunda” aired on Monday.

“This one’s more [painful] kasi I had multiple pregnancies, meaning either twins or triplets. Iniisip ko, ‘wow, siguro nag-miscarriage ako dati kaya pinalitan ni God.’ Then I had one with a heartbeat so I was really hoping. Then I lost the [one with] heartbeat.”

“‘Yon talaga nag-breakdown na ako. I was really going to lose it already,” she added.

Mariel suffered her second miscarriage last August, just days after her husband Robin Padilla announced that she is pregnant with triplets.

The TV host said is thankful to husband Robin who has supported her during that time.

They went on a vacation abroad, Mariel shared, and said that “[Robin] reassured me that the world will be okay even if just the two of us. So was able to make something bad, positive, na na-feel ko pa ring blessed ako. Masaya na ko ulit.”

After all that has happened to their marriage, Mariel said she’s not asking for another baby anymore since she felt that it’ll be given to them if it’s meant to be.

Mariel also explained her decision to undergo dilation and curettage procedure three months after her miscarriage. Usually, a woman immediately undergoes the D& C procedure right after the miscarriage.

But Mariel said that aside from wanting it to "go the natural way" like in her first miscarriage, she admitted that “for a time I was holding on to it.”

“Sinabi ko no’n God has the last say, kaya I want it to go the natural way,” she explained. “Malay mo He’ll put Mother Mary in me and give it life, so I let it be.  Then nagalit na sa akin ang OB [obstetrician gynecologist] ko, so sabi ko sige.”

For now, Mariel said she wants to focus on the blessings in her career. Recently, she hosted the “Pinoy Big Brother 737” Big Night with Toni Gonzaga, Robi Domingo and Enchong Dee.
