The shopaholic in Kris Aquino

She is known as the Queen of All Media and one of the most familiar faces in showbiz. She has done it all including conquering the world of social media. Apart from that, she is also the daughter of Sen. Ninoy and Pres. Cory Aquino and the sister of incumbent Pres. Noynoy Aquino. With such an impressive family and an illustrious showbiz career, many would see her as a princess who simply has everything. And with that in mind, one will always curiously ask what does one shop for when she has everything? We take an in-depth look at what Kris Aquino is as a shopper. 

“I think what I shop for are the same as what other people shop for, but of course, more on the healthy side na.” She admits that though she does have a few brands she has grown fond of, she is still one of those who look for a fair exchange of quality and price. “Like all moms, I only want the best for both Josh and Bimby but we always need to be practical.”

Kris is the current endorser for one of the Philippines’ biggest brands, SM. And like her other endorsements, she signed a contract with SM because she herself is a customer of SM. “Long before I signed a partnership with SM, I was already their frequent shopper. For me, it’s how they have a little bit of everything. They have your essentials, sweet treats, as well as organic and other healthier alternatives for health conscious people like me. You can find both signature brands as well as really practical ones in their stores.” She cites the example of SM Markets, the mother brand of SM Supermarket, Savemore Market and SM Hypermarket.

“At SM Markets, aside from our everyday groceries, I can get food that me and my children enjoy; those unusual finds you’ll be surprised are now available at SM. And these brands, they’re really good and I’m so glad that I can find them at SM.” Kris shares that although most of the shopping is done by her associates at home, she does enjoy going to SM Markets every once in a while.

“And di ba I had to bring down my blood pressure? SM Markets was so supportive of me. They told me which food to eat to lower my blood pressure like organic veggies, low-fat yogurt and whole wheat. And they have a lot to choose from. Hindi nakakasawa kasi laging may variety.” She says SM Markets is complete when it comes to different varieties of merchandise not only for people with hypertension but also for those with other health conditions. “Or kung talagang health buff ka lang. May reduced salt, reduced fat, a few gluten-free stuff and whole grains.”

And now that Christmas is just around the corner, surely Yes Magazine’s Most Beautiful has got a long list to cover. With her busy schedule, she only gets few opportunities to complete her list. “I shop at SM whenever I have a chance because they have everything, I go to the SM Store for clothes and shoes, as well as for Josh and Bimby’s toys but for my friends, I go to SM Markets because, honestly, I don’t know what to give them and I think sending them Christmas Baskets filled with delicious treats is a great idea. And siyempre hindi mawawala ang holiday hams na pang-regalo. Marami silang promos that make shopping rewarding. At the same time, nakakabili rin ako ng ingredients that I would need in preparation for the upcoming Noche Buena.”

Despite many people thinking otherwise, Kris remains a very wise woman going for a balance between luxury and practicality. And judging from her shopping habits, we can conclude that the Queen of All Media has her feet planted firmly on the ground.
