Mind-boggling death stunts in Point Break

MANILA, Philippines – Prepare yourselves for Point Break, voted one of the most anticipated movies of the year by popular entertainment sites like Yahoo Movies and XFinity.

The action-packed, thrill-a-minute-film stars Luke Bracey (Best of Me) and features real-life extreme athletes doing dangerous stunts on land, in the air and at sea. Real lives are in real danger in this $120M production from Alcon, Warner Bros. and Lionsgate.

In Point Break, FBI agent Johnny Utah (Bracey) goes undercover to forge strong allies with a group of extreme athletes whom he believes are the perpetrators of high crimes across the globe headed by their charismatic leader Bodhi. To prove that he’s solid with the group, he joins in several Robinhood-esque tasks of stealing from the rich and giving to the poor. His efforts gain their trust but soon FBI’s Utah must choose whether to join the group’s mission or to expose them.

What makes Point Break different from the stunt-filled James Bond and Mission Impossible movies is that Point Break’s death-defying stunts were filmed with no camera tricks or CGIs.

Directed by Ericson Core (stunt coordinator and cinematographer for the original Fast and the Furious), the film is joined by the world’s most famous and daring extreme athletes — wingsuit flying, surfers, snowboarders, skateboarders, free climbers and motorcyclists.

“You have to see to believe what these daredevils were able to accomplish while doing the movie. Point Break breaks all barriers seen in traditional action films with daring, death-defying stunts and a no-limits attitude from the actors and the whole production crew,” says director Ericson.

When interviewed, Bracey said it’s a miracle that no one was hurt during the filming. “We were dealing with professionals and we pray a lot,” he jokes, “and that’s what kept us safe.”
