Child Haus brings together top caliber child performers

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – Child Haus is known as a temporary shelter for children afflicted with cancer. Aside from being a home away from home for child patients, Child Haus as an institution also extends help for the children’s medical needs.

Child Haus, established by philanthropist and beauty guru Ricky Reyes, was the inspiration behind the new movie project from BG Production. Written by Socorro Villanueva and directed by Louie Ignacio, the movie gathers six talented child performers in a touching story of love and faith.

Miggs Cuaderno won an international Best Actor award for the movie Quick Change at the 20th Cheries Cheris International Film Festival in Paris and Best Supporting Actor at the Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival for Children’s Show. In the movie Asintado of Louie Ignacio, he won three Best Child Performer trophies from Star Awards, Gawad Pasado and Famas Awards.

Mona Louise Rey first drew acclaim for her acting chops in the soap opera Munting Heredera, directed by Maryo J. Delos Reyes.

Therese Malvar’s introductory role as a child lesbian garnered her Best Actress award at the very First Cine Filipino Film Festival. Therese has significant films in her filmography handled by top caliber directors like Carlo Obispo Jr. and Ralston Jover. In the recently-concluded Cinema One Originals Film Festival, she bagged another Best Actress award for the film Hamog.

Vincent Magbanua, who hails from Palawan, got noticed for his acting in the top-rating GMA soap opera Indio,  where he played the young Bong Revilla. He was also acclaimed for his work in the indie film Balut Country.

Erika Yu is from Iloilo. While Child Haus is her debut film, she was so impressive that BG Production got her anew for an important role in Laut, where she played the younger sister of Barbie Forteza.

Felixia Dizon is the daughter of Allen Dizon. Her first movie is the award winning Magkakabaung/ The Coffin Maker for which she garnered a Best Child Performer nomination at the recently-concluded Famas Awards. With her dad Allen, she already experienced the thrill of walking the red carpet in the various international film festivals where Magkakabaung participated. She is playing one of the leads in Laut, where she plays a young Badjao.

Playing lead roles as parents are Katrina Halili, Leni Santos, Christopher Roxas, Tabs Sumulong and Ina Feleo. The movie is an official selection at the 14th Dhaka International Film Festival in the children section category.

Through the help of SM Cinema and Hans Sy, Footees of Rebisco Biscuit, Idol Cheesedog of CDO Foodsphere, Inc. and Ricky Reyes, Child Haus will have a grand premiere tonight at 7 at SM Megamall Cinema 1. After the premiere, it will have a series of special screenings in various universities and institutions.
