MANILA, Philippines - Elmo Magalona admitted that it was hard for him to leave his former network GMA-7.

"It took a while, it was a thinking process talaga," he said about his move with ABS-CBN, in an interview on Thursday after his contract signing.

"Gusto ko lang mag-grow,  mag-try ng something new. Feeling ko makukuha ko 'yon if I transfer," he added.

He also denied that he left after feeling that the network has neglected him.

"That was not a part of the decision," he clarified. "Hindi po 'yan ang nasa isip ko kung bakit [ako lumipat]. Hindi ko naman po iniwan 'yong five years na experience ko, na binigay sa akin ng GMA. Yun po ang nag-mold sa akin, hindi naman po ako pinabayaan."

He's also happy that he's immediately welcomed in the network with a big project under Dreamscape Productions.

He'll star in the upcoming TV series "Born for You" where he's paired with Janella Salvador.

"I'm excited to work with her," he said about Janella. "Medyo ang dami niyang projects na ginagawa ngayon, but she still has time to do one with me."

With all these changes happening in his career, Elmo is thankful for the support of his girlfriend Janine Gutierrez.

"We're both happy, we're both blessed," he said. "We both have projects, she has a project now. Buti na lang she supports me and I support her also all the way."

Elmo is now co-managed by Star Magic and his mom Pia Magalona.
