CharDawn is back in You’re My Home

LIVE FEED - Bibsy M. Carballo - The Philippine Star

The newest family drama in town is one that deals with the anxiety that people go through in their day-to-day lives filled with responsibilities, chances and hopes that their dreams become a reality. Such is what the newest series You’re My Home appears to tackle.

Produced by ABS-CBN and directed by Jerry Lopez Sineneng, the series that started airing only recently is already making a mark, especially on social media.

You’re My Home stars Richard Gomez as lawyer Gabriel Fontanilla and Dawn Zulueta as his wife Marian Chavez Fontanilla. The TV return of Richard and Dawn as a “love team” also known as CharDawn has long been awaited, especially by fans who still can’t forget the first film they had made together, Hihintayin Kita sa Langit.

This told of the love story produced by Armida Siguion-Reyna whose reputation for perfection has been known by everyone in showbiz. Tita Midz, as she is called, made it clear even before the shoot that as far as she was concerned, they were to come out with the perfect love story, not monkey business between them.

The setting was on an island, far from the madding crowd that might get in the way of concentration. Any disruption was clearly not tolerated. All these went on till the completion of the story, which had a sad ending. Dawn’s character was found to be suffering from an ailment she had kept to herself. As she felt death was coming, she asked Richard’s character to carry her to the seaside. And it was here, to the last shot of the sun, that Dawn’s character died in the arms of Richard.

It has been many years since that film. Now, Richard and Dawn play a married couple in You’re My Home. The onscreen chemistry between them has remained. In the teleserye, Gabriel (Richard) and Marian (Dawn) are having a happy life together until their youngest son Vince, played by Paul Salas, disappears from their home and is presumed a victim of kidnapping.

Gabriel believes the culprit is Christian Vergara (JC de Vera) since he has an ax to grind after getting into a legal misunderstanding with Gabriel. Their relationship worsens when Gabriel brings the case to court. Being a lawyer trained to use every bit of information related to the case, Gabriel spends his time poring over footprints submitted that might help the case. A woman gives a statement in court that she saw Christian bringing Vince into his car. Gabriel wins the case against Christian who will stay in jail for the rest of his life.

Many years after, Gabriel and Marian’s marriage is in trouble, with both ready to separate from each other. Gabriel has also found love in Veronica played by Precious Lara Quigaman.

Then, the near impossible happens. Vince, the missing child, reappears but without explaining where he has been all this time, whether he was kidnapped or not, and if so, who did it.

In view of all these happenings, what will the future be like for Gabriel and Marian? Too many things have already happened since the disappearance of Vince. But will the love they once shared be enough to bring them together again?

You’re My Home also stars Jessy Mendiola as Grace Fontanilla, Sam Concepcion as Rahm Fontanilla, JC de Vera as Christian Vergara, Mika de la Cruz as Jessifer, Tonton Gutierrez as Victor Vergara, Assunta de Rossi as Jackie, Jobelle Salvador as Teresa Vergara. The cast also includes Raikko Mateo, Bugoy Cariño and Belle Mariano.

Watch You’re My Home on weeknights after On the Wings of Love.
