Jessy Mendiola on new teleserye: I’ll prove myself more

MANILA, Philippines – Jessy Mendiola wants to prove herself as an actress in her upcoming primetime TV series “You’re My Home.”

“We always feel na we have to prove more than our last. So since ako, ‘Maria Mercedes’ was my last teleserye, I think I have to prove more myself in this teleserye, na I can do dramatic roles pa not only pa-sexy roles,” she said on Wednesday.

The Kapamilya actress said that this is her first project where she won’t portray a sexy image.

She has played sexy characters in her last two shows, “Precious Hearts Romances Present: Paraiso” and the Philippine adaptation of “Maria Mercedes.”

“In a way mas mapapansin na nila ‘yong acting, ‘yong pag-deliver ko sa role as Grace Fontanilla and I think that’s very nice for my career,” she said. “Siyempre sasabihin ng iba na puro pa-sexy. Ngayon I can truly say na nailabas talaga ng director namin at ng mga kasamahan ko ‘yong pagiging actress ko.”

"You're My Home," which also stars Dawn Zulueta, Richard Gomez, JC de Vera, Sam Concepcion and Paul Salas, is directed by Jerry Lopez Sineneng and will premiere on November 9, after “On the Wings of Love.”
