MANILA, Philippines – The Alden Richards-Maine “Yaya Dub” Mendoza love team makes it to international news.

The “phenomenal love team” was featured in the website of the international news company British Broadcasting Company (BBC). The headline for the feature reads, "AlDub: A social media phenomenon about love and lip-synching." The article about the "Eat Bulaga" love team was published the Asia news section of the news site.

The media outfit analyzed the secret behind the success of the love team that broke the Twitter record for most number of tweets.

The hashtag “AlDubEBTamangPanahon” reached 41 million tweets after their “Tamang Panahon” event last October 24 at the Philippine Arena.

This takes over the 35 million tweet record made by the Brazil-Germany World-Cup semi-finals.

BBC Filipino presenter Rico Hizon said that the success of the AlDUb love team was due to their humility.

“They appear very down-to-earth,” he said. “I believe that one big reason they are so popular is because the actors are very humble despite their massive success. They keep thanking fans as well as everyone who supports their work.”

They also noted that Maine “has become the third fastest-rising growing celebrity on Twitter, after US singers Taylor Swift and Katy Perry.”
