Jasmine: The first is always memorable

The first is so memorable that you remember it the rest of your life, right? Even if it’s just a celfone.

“I was 14 when I had my first celfone,” said Jasmine Curtis-Smith. “It was an iPhone.”

Funfare asked Jasmine about the other “firsts” in her life.

• First trip alone: “I went to Singapore for a three-day vacation. Wala lang. Gusto ko lang mapag-isa.”

• First love: “You know who he was.” (His initials: SC.)

• First heartbreak: “My first love was also my first  heartbreak. Di ba when you break up, you inevitably break each other’s heart?”

• First time to cry: “Over a boy? Ang tagal na! That was when I was 14.”

• First time she realized that she was famous: “When I got many haters on the social media. Sabi nila when you have many haters, you’re made. Yehey! Ang dami ko nang haters. Okey!!! How do I deal with haters/bashers? I just ignore them. But not when they cross the line and drag my family into the issues.”

• First time she had a misunderstanding with her Ate Anne: “It happened during a New Year trip to the beach.…over something petty, something stupid that I did. I was 14 then. Ate Anne was stopping me from doing something with my friends. I ignored her at hayun, napagalitan niya ako.”

Since she idolizes her Ate Anne, Jasmine admitted that she listens to big sister’s well-meaning reminders about her love life.

“What kind of guy does my Ate want for me? She will give me her opinion pero hindi naman siya nakikialam. For me, she wants somebody na maalaga, understanding, family-oriented…however we evolve, just the guy and me. But in the long run, I make the final choice. I know what my type is.”

Luckily, she and her Ate Anne go for different types.

“Otherwise,” Jasmine joked, “kung pareho kami ng type, baka ma-in love ako kay Erwan (Solenn Heussaff’s brother and Anne’s boyfriend).” 

Right now, according to Jasmine, she’s not looking, she’s not dating. “No rush. If he comes along, I’ll see.”

Incidentally, Jasmine and Anne will not be together this Christmas.

“I will be in Australia with my mom and my brother,” said Jasmine. “Ate Anne kasi is going somewhere else.”

I’m sharing with Funfare readers the following words of wisdom forwarded to me by Bulletin’s Cris Belen:
