MANILA, Philippines - International classical concert pianist Nick Nangit (photo) will hold a concert titled Lunas tonight at 7 at the new UP Manila Museum of a History of Ideas in Padre Faura, Manila. It is in celebration of the National Children’s Month.
The limited seating capacity event is for the benefit of Safe Motherhood Caravan and Education Programs of the Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP), the country’s largest accredited foundation headed by Rafael Lopa and the 19th Festival of Trees fundraising program of the Makati Garden Club (MGC), the country’s first organization on plant care and gardening chaired by Mindy Perez-Rubio.
Nick will be the first to do a concert in the said venue. He will perform rarely-played classical pieces of Schumann/Liszt, Haydn, Lecuona, Cruz, Arceo/Real, Rachmaninov/Schultz, Moszkowski, Prokofiev, Poulenc, Cornejo, Unite/Pacis, Rodgers/Hammerstein and Bergman/Bergman/Shire.
Most importantly, Nick will be playing for the first time in the country special arrangements of Original Pilipino Music (OPM) pieces like Bituing Walang Ningning and May Bukas Pa.
He will also do The Sound of Music Medley and a ’70s romantic piece by Alan Bergman, Marlyn Bergman and David Shire.
