Why Matteo Guidicelli refuses to involve gf Sarah in first concert

MANILA, Philippines — Many fans are expecting Sarah Geronimo to make an appearance or surprise performance at Matteo Guidicelli's concert, titled MG1, next month.

But the ABS-CBN actor has decided not to involve Sarah in his first solo concert.

In an press conference on Wednesday, Matteo explained that he wants to separate his work from his personal life.

“I really want to keep Sarah and I, especially in work, very, very separate because ang daming intriga, ang daming bashers, ang daming negative comments," the 25-year-old actor said.

Matteo added that he wants "to climb my ladder" by himself.

"She’s my girlfriend, yes, but she’s not my partner in work. I want to work alone. She’s my inspiration in work but we want to keep it separate talaga," he said.

He explained that music has always been his passion, even before he was in a relationship with Sarah. "I want to do it on my own," Matteo said.

" I really don’t want people to think I’m using her or just following her," he added. "This is my dream since the beginning, noong hindi pa kami. So I want to do it my own way."

Matteo considers singing as something he loves to do out of his comfort zone. "It’s like participating in an extreme sport, exciting and nerve-wracking yet fulfilling,” he said.

MG1 is his first solo concert; however, he had a concert with Daniel Matsunaga and JC De Vera last July titled "Dreamboys."

Sarah also did not attend the "Dreamboys" concert but Matteo performed the singer-actress' hit song "Kilometro" during the show.
