MANILA, Philippines – Filipinos in the “Land Down Under” recently came together for The Filipino Channel’s (TFC) second installment of the much-anticipated OKGo! Australia. TFC drew thousands of Filipinos at the Planetshakers Centre in South Melbourne and the Rosehill Gardens Racecourse in Sydney with Kapamilya stars mounting a two-day entertainment extravaganza.
The 2015 OKGo! Australia, which forms part of TFC’s series of blockbuster events for kababayan in Australia, entertained over 4,000 Filipinos in Melbourne and Sydney with performances of Original Pilipino Music (OPM) hits and classics, international pop songs, latest dance craze and pure Pinoy fun.
According to Ailene Averion, Asia-Pacific managing director for ABS-CBN Global Ltd. Philippine branch, “Last year, TFC celebrated 20 years of service to Filipinos worldwide. This year’s OKGo! Australia continues to be a showcase of Filipino talent, our kababayan’s fondness for entertainment and the Pinoy’s unique bayanihan spirit wherever in the world they may be.”
Highlighting the TFC event was Dream Dad’s Zanjoe Marudo and Beauty Gonzales singing such OPM songs as Kapag Maputi Na Ang Buhok Ko and Pusong Bato.
Thrilling the audience even more was when host and Your Face Sounds Familiar Season 2 contestant Kakai Bautista pulled out three ladies from the audience to join Zanjoe for an on-stage contest. Zanjoe then proceeded to serenade the winning contestant with Hinahanap-hanap Kita.
Stepping up the level of entertainment was Angeline Quinto singing fan favorites like Kunin Mo Na Ang Lahat Sa Akin and Erik Santos performing his signature song This is the Moment.
Turning the concert into a veritable sing-along session was Aiza Seguerra who performed Pagdating ng Panahon and El Bimbo. Sealing the entertainment fare on both the Melbourne and Sydney shows was the cast’s performance of Good Time, which pretty much sums up what the TFC event was all about — fun and entertainment with Kapamilya fans.
