MANILA, Philippines – Gary Valenciano admitted that he somehow blamed himself that his son Gab felt "worthless" in the local showbiz scene.
"I know I played a fault at that," he said in an interview Boy Abunda in "Tonight With Boy Abunda" on Tuesday. "Siyempre as Gary Valenciano, as his father, there are things that I could have done para maiwasan 'yon."
Two weeks ago, Gab took on social media to explain why he decided to leave the country and live in the United States.
On his Facebook post, the younger Valenciano said the entertainment industry in the Philippines made him "feel like one of the most worthless artists in the history of artists."
"I'm sure many more can empathize, but can't speak out," he added.

Gary said that since his son decided to enter the industry, he would always remind him that he's not expecting his son to be like him.
"I've also seen what he's gone through, e, I've also seen the pressure he's gone through," he said. "I assured him many, many times, 'Gabriel, I do not expect you to talk, walk, sing, dress up, look like me, dance like me. I don't expect [that]'."
He also told his three children, "You have your own set of wings, use those wings to fly. I'll fly with you but I will not fly for you."
Gary, who has been in the industry for decades, admits that he somehow thinks about being forgotten, although he still believes it won't happen.
"When you change somebody's life, when you receive a text, a tweet or a message and people thank you for changing them, their life, I don't think that's easily forgotten," he explained.
