Awiting Kay GLEEng chorale tilt at Festival Mall
MANILA, Philippines - Just as the Philippines has produced great solo acts such as Lea Salonga, Rachelle Ann Go and Charice, the country also has a roster of successful choral groups that have won top prizes in various international competitions, among them, the Philippine Madrigal Singers, the UP Singing Ambassadors, The UP Concert Chorus and the Loboc Children’s Choir.
Now, it’s time to showcase that talent out in the open as Festival Supermall in Alabang, Muntinlupa City holds its annual Awiting Kay GLEEng Choral Competition, with OPM as theme, set on Sept. 26 to 27, 2 p.m. at the mall’s second level Carousel Court.
This year’s competition is open to two categories: Schools, colleges and universities; and community category (comprising of church, company, barangay or community groups).
Repertoire consists of Original Pilipino Music (OPM) songs, composed by a Filipino whether in English or any other language or dialect.
Grand finals will be at 2 p.m. at the second level Carousel Court on Sept. 26 for the community category, and Sept. 27 for the school category. This year, the prizes are also bigger and better. The second runners-up will receive P10,000 in cash, plus a trophy while the first runners-up will get P20,000 in cash, plus a trophy. The grand champion groups will get P30,000 in cash, plus a trophy.
