How Vic Sotto proposed to Pauleen Luna

MANILA, Philippines – “It’s very simple,” said Pauleen Luna when asked about boyfriend Vic Sotto’s proposal to her, in an interview with GMA-7’s “Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho” aired Sunday.

Vic admitted his engagement to 26-year-old Pauleen earlier this month.

“Nothing grand. Just the way he likes it,” Pauleen said of the proposal. “Kasi kami, very low key kami. We like keeping our relationship simple.”

She added:  “One day, nilabas n’ya lang [yung ring]. Nagulat ako. Sinuot ko, actually… Sabi n’ya, ‘Teka, ako dapat magsusuot sa iyo n’yan!’ And then that’s it.”

Pauleen refused to give specific details about their upcoming wedding. Earlier reports say the two are planning to hold an intimate, “quiet” wedding either before the year ends or by January next year.

She is also mum about the price of her engagement ring, which reports estimated to cost around P1.5 million.

“We’re starting to plan the wedding. Writing down 'yung mga guest. Nakapili na rin kami ng venue. But the date, to follow,” Pauleen told “Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho.”

‘He feels my sincerity’

Vic and Pauleen admitted they are in a relationship in 2013. Between the two is a 35-year age gap: Vic is 61, while Pauleen is 26.

When asked what it took for Pauleen to make Vic propose to her, she said:  “I think it’s really God. Prayers talaga, it works.”

“I think ang Panginoon Diyos lang talaga ang nagbigay nito sa amin kasi we reached that point where we know each other very, very well,” Pauleen further explained.

Pauleen describes her relationship with Vic as “effortless” despite the huge age gap.

“We’re like friends, best friends. We’re partners. I think one thing na we have in common na very strong sa relationship namin is sobrang simple lang po talaga kami,” she said.

Pauleen said she appreciates how Vic fought for her throughout their relationship.

“Sa dami ng napagdaanan namin, kumapit lang siya sa relationship. Pinaglaban niya ako. Nakita ko how much he really loves me. Ang daming nangyayari nung una but he stayed with me through this journey. And that’s a very big thing for me,” she explained.

Meanwhile, she said Vic appreciates her “sincerity.”

“He would just always say he feels my sincerity. It’s very easy to say I love you and it’s very easy to show someone that you care. But for that person to feel your sincerity, I think ibang level na yun sa relationship,” Pauleen said. — Chuck Smith
