An evening of throwback ’80s hits with Spandau Ballet

MANILA, Philippines - All roads lead to the Mall of Asia Arena tomorrow, Sept. 21 at 8 p.m. for what is expected to be one of this year’s biggest musical events, featuring one of the hottest and most successful British bands during the past 35 years.

Catch Spandau Ballet, which rose  to international prominence during the New Romantic Era,  as it takes center stage in its first-ever gig in Manila that will be a throwback to the ’80s with its showcase of songs that have left a permanent imprint in international music.

 Ovation Productions in association with Dainty Group Asia is mounting the one-night-only concert  as part of the Asian  leg of the legendary band’s world tour dubbed Soul Boys of the Western World Live!  and in support of  its documentary film of the same title.

Per Sorensen, The Voice of Fra Lippo, is the featured special guest.

Spandau Ballet is expected to take Manila by storm in its highly-anticipated gig, attracting an impressive crowd of music enthusiasts from the ‘80s to the new millennium captivated by the dazzling array of hit songs it has popularized.

The concert brings to Manila all five-original members of the iconic group — Tony Hadley (lead singer), John Keeble (drums), Gary Kemp (guitar), Martin Kemp (bass) and Steve Norman (guitar) —  to perform live for the first time their smash-hit songs for Pinoy fans.

Among the band’s  greatest hits are True, Gold, Through the Barricades, I’ll Fly For You, Lifeline, Round And Round, Communication, Highly Strung and Only When You Leave.

Its current world tour is taking Spandau Ballet to major cities in the US, Europe, the Middle East and Australia before making stops in Asia for shows in Singapore, Manila and Hong Kong.
