Amor Powers and Claudia Buenavista are perhaps the most iconic teleserye rivals in the history of Philippine TV.
Their intense confrontations and dramatic lines are well-remembered by the legion of fans of the hit ABS-CBN teleserye Pangako Sa’Yo, making their rivalry a benchmark for teleserye kontrabidas.
With the ongoing run of the Pangako Sa’Yo remake on primetime TV, the modern Amor and Claudia are also defining themselves as fashion trendsetters.
Every episode, Amor and Claudia are spotted wearing stylish ensembles that exude their strong personalities. Because of their fashion-forward style, an exclusive fashion collection was launched recently by ABS-CBN and CLN.
Named as The Amor and Claudia Collection, it features dresses, tops, bags, clutches and shoes that are reminiscent of the personalities of Amor and Claudia, making loyal fans and fashion lovers feel like they are raiding the personal closet of the powerhouse characters.
“CLN entered into a licensing agreement with ABS-CBN to exclusively create fashion pieces for the collection. People will definitely recognize some pieces worn by Amor and Claudia from the show,” category manager for CLN Valerie Lao said.
For ABS-CBN, launching the project is another means to extend its content through innovative merchandising and a proof that ABS-CBN is letting audiences experience the stories in real life.
Through the Amor and Claudia Collection, ABS-CBN continues to boost the presence of Kapamilya brands and properties beyond the TV and the big screen — a bold step towards its goal to redefine how Filipinos embrace ABS-CBN teleseryes.
But this isn’t the first time that ABS-CBN and CLN partnered for a licensing project. In 2012 during the height of the Kim Chiu-Maja Salvador starrer Ina, Kapatid, Anak, they also launched a Memorata shoe collection inspired by the teleserye.
“The Memorata shoe collection was very successful. This year, the latest must-have is the Amor and Claudia Collection which we hope fans of Pangako Sa’Yo and every fashionista will love,” shared Pia de Leon, ABS-CBN Licensing marketing officer.
Part of the collection is the iconic white jumpsuit Amor donned during her anticipated comeback as the vengeful business tycoon in the top-rating teleserye.
The different shoe designs
Just like Amor’s return in the story that made the hashtag #PSYUnveil among the worldwide trends on Twitter that day, Amor’s white jumpsuit is also expected to become a hit among fashion aficionados.
But developing the collection was not an easy feat.
ABS-CBN and CLN worked closely together to ensure that the items designed were not just fashionable, but also clearly captured the power, strength and style of the celebrated rivals.
This is where Pangako Sa’Yo head stylist and Metro creative director Rex Atienza comes in.
With his expertise, Rex’s role was to guarantee that the collection is consistent with the personalities and taste of both Amor and Claudia from the development up until it was available in CLN boutiques.
At first glimpse, the collection is all about power dressing. But with a closer look, the collection showcases the character differences.
According to Rex, the minimalist and structured pieces of the collection reflect Amor’s taste for classic and polished outfits. On the other hand, printed and colorful dresses and tops stay true to the loud personality and lavish lifestyle of Claudia.
Asked what he thought of the collection, Rex remarked, “I am grateful that the wardrobe I’m styling for both characters is now available for those who want to channel their inner Amor and Claudia. The collection will surely add a touch of drama to their everyday wear.”
The Amor and Claudia Collection is now available in select CLN boutiques nationwide.
