Kris cutting down on TV work?

Curtain-raiser:

•A singer-actress has been politely informed that she would have “to go on vacation” due to what the network perceived as conflict of interests. You see, the singer-actress is set to do a sitcom with an equally diminutive actress on the rival network so she’s being dropped from the roster of hosts of the other network’s variety show. Her new show will actually mark her return to the network that discovered her. In this country’s continuing network war, an artist can’t really row his/her boat along two rivers (hindi pupuwedeng mamangka sa dalawang ilog). It’s either/or, no ifs and buts.

Because she has been missing from her late-night show Aquino & Abunda Tonight show on the Kapamilya network, Kris Aquino is rumored to be signing off for good due to health reasons. Kris has been sickly these days, with her blood pressure one time hitting first 150/100 and then, accompanied by terrible headache and mild vomiting, 200/120 which is alarmingly high. She has also been suffering from recurring allergies.

Must be stress because Kris is overloaded with work. She’s finishing her scenes in Star Cinema’s Etiquette for Mistresses, directed by Chito Roño, which has a mid-September playdate. Aside from Aquino & Abunda Tonight, she also hosts the daily show KrisTV.

So, people have been wondering if Kris, as rumored, is cutting down on her TV work. (Kris said she’s not sure if she can still do Mr. & Mrs. Split, with her “work that didn’t progress” partner Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista. I guess it depends on her doctor to decide on that…that is, if Kris is up to the demands of more work.)

I texted Kris for verification and she texted back: “We taped yesterday (for Aquino & Abunda Tonight) aired today (last night). I’m back to the shoot for Etiquette. No, I’m not cutting down. I just haven’t been on A&A while shooting is going on.”

I talked to Boy on the phone and, although he didn’t say Aquino & Abunda Tonight will be closing, he hinted that he might do a nightly solo show (aside from his long-running in-depth show Bottomline on Saturday nights). Asked if, also as rumored, he will be hosting a weekend showbiz-oriented show (as a replacement for the recently-closed The Buzz), Boy was mum. Does he want to enjoy his weekends with his family?

It’s raining offers for AlDub

AlDub pair Alden Richards and Yaya Dub/Maine Mendoza during their aborted meeting in last Saturday’s episode of Eat, Bulaga ?

Five-point-eight (5.8) million tweets last Saturday (topping the record high for Pope Francis’ Manila visit last January) when the AlDub love team almost but didn’t quite touch flesh (they simply waved, winked and blew kisses at each other until a sliding partition aborted, again, their much-awaited meeting), Alden Richards and Yaya Dub/Maine Mendoza stay far ahead of the competition.

The pair is swamped not just with millions of tweets but also, don’t look now, with offers for commercials…three so far: One for a fast-food joint, one for a popular clothing brand and a third for a mobile company.

Netizens actually know (or have an idea) what those three companies are. Sources at APT Productions (behind Eat, Bulaga! and Sunday PINASaya), however, neither confirm nor deny the reports.

I wonder, will Alden and Yaya Dub finally talk in any or all of the three commercials? My guess is that they might use sign language or communicate via cue cards as they do in the Bulaga kalyeserye. But will they finally speak (in their own voices) when Alden and Maine appear in My Pabebe Love (formerly titled Romcomin Mo Ako, directed by Joey Reyes), the 2015 Metro Filmfest entry of Vic Sotto and Ai-Ai delas Alas?

To quote Lola Nidora (Wally Bayola who is a big help in making the kalyeserye a smash-hit, along with Jose Manalo as Tinidora), sa tamang panahon.
