Antoinette Jadaone on JaDine: They have magic
MANILA, Philippines – Antoinette Jadaone admires the love team of Nadine Lustre and James Reid.
She’s directing the first TV show of the love team, “On the Wings of Love,” which also happens to be her directorial debut on TV.
“Kapag napapanood ko, built in talaga ‘yong chemistry nilang dalawa, e,” she said in an interview on Thursday.
Based on different social media posts and trends, Jadaone is happy that the people have a warm response to their show. At first she didn’t know how it worked, but looking at the show in a different perspective she realized that “‘yong love team ang unang-una na nagdadala.”
She pointed out that it’s a big factor that their love team started in a film.
The two were first paired in the film “Diary ng Panget,” which was followed by two more films “Talk Back and You’re Dead” and “Para sa Hopeless Romantic.”
“Fresh face ang dalawang ‘to,” she explaned. “Wala silang regular thing sa TV. So feeling ko nakatulong ‘yon na noong lumabas sila sa TV, ‘yong mga tao iniisip, sino ang dalawnag ‘to? Bakit sila binigyan ng show? So pinanood nila to find out [kung] bakit.”
Later on, Jadaone admitted that she was first hesitant to accept the offer of Dreamscape to direct the teleserye debut of JaDine.
She had an experience working in a teleserye production before when she was the personal assistant of director Joyce Bernal in several GMA TV shows.
After experiencing the demanding world of soap operas, she promised herself that she won’t direct a TV show.
When asked how she was convinced to finally do the project, Jadaone said the first factor is the JaDine love team.
Second factor was their shoot in San Francisco which appealed to her since she loves to travel. Lastly, of course, because it’s a romantic-comedy themed show, a genre that’s close to her heart.
She was first made popular by her “hugot” film “That Thing Called Tadhana” which starred Angelica Panganiban and JM de Guzman.
Now that their show is a success and she finally had a taste of how was it directing for TV, Jadaone realized that there isn’t much difference between TV and film directing.
She said that the only difference was “mas marami kang sequences na kukunan tsaka everyday siya. Pero other than that, na-realize ko na they’re almost the same.”
“On the Wings of Love” airs Monday to Friday, after “Pangako Sa ‘Yo” on ABS-CBN primetime block.
