A quiet wedding for Vic & Pauleen

FUNFARE - Ricky Lo - The Philippine Star

As follow-up to last Thursday’s story about Vic Sotto having given Pauleen Luna an engagement ring, somebody close to the couple told Funfare that Vic plans to have a “quiet wedding,” simple and purely a family affair, unlike the fairy-tale wedding of Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera, and Heart Evangelista and Sen. Chiz Escudero.

“Very few will be invited,” said the Funfare DPA, “only very close friends, aside from close family members.”

The number of those invited is not more than 50. Already, Pauleen is said to have issued advance “apology” to people not included in the list.

Vic said that he would announce the details “sa tamang panahon” (at the right time). Will Vic’s four children (two with ex-wife Dina Bonnevie, one with Coney Reyes and one with Angela Luz) act as secondary sponsors?

Now proudly wearing the three-carat Solitaire ring (to show that she belongs to Vic, to paraphrase the song…“Answered prayer;” Pauleen as quoted saying), Pauleen is in the US with her mother to attend a cousin’s wedding. While there, will Pauleen order a specially-designed gown by an A-list couturier like Monique Lhuillier?

“No, she won’t,” added the DPA. “Pauleen will buy a gown off the rack. Kasi nga, small wedding lang.”

Many people are wondering if the sweethearts have signed a pre-nup agreement, which is the usual practice of big-time celebrities.

“No, there’s none,” somebody else close to Vic said. “Ayaw ni Vic.”

Vic has kept mum on rumors that he’s building his and Pauleen’s dream house at a posh subdivision.

Once married, how would Vic (61, born in 1954, and not 60 as The STAR reported the other day) address Pauleen’s parents who are a few years younger than him?

“Of course,” the DPA said, “Daddy at Mommy ang itatawag ni Vic.”

And how would Vic’s children Oyo and Danica address Pauleen who, at 26, is younger than them?

“Tatawagin nilang Mommy si Pauleen,” added the DPA, “at tatawagin naman ni Pauleen kuya si Oyo at ate naman si Danica.”

Alden Richards giving a Yaya Dub/Maine standee a loving hug and kissing her via split-screen — Photos from Eat, Bulaga! Facebook

Will Alden & Yaya Dub finally meet today?

Three weeks ago, the split-screen love team of Eat, Bulaga!’s AlDub kalyeserye found themselves under one roof, actually in the same room, at the show’s Broadway Centrum studio when Yaya Dub/Maine Mendoza competed a la Cinderella against new Bulaga (Happy Birthday) segment host Patricia Tumulak in the Bulaga Pa More contest. Yaya Dub and Alden Richards swapped quick glances before Yaya Dub escaped hanging at the back of a passenger jeepney.

Last Saturday, again they almost met when Yaya Dub’s over-protective boss Lola Nidora (Wally Bayola) ordered Alden to personally deliver the pili candies and laing/pinangat to Yaya Dub that Lola Nidora challenged Alden to get in Bicol. AlDub fans know what happened. Lola Nidora distracted Alden with another challenge and they ended up in the swimming pool with Alden again missing Yaya Dub.

Will the long-distance lovers (who could kiss and embrace and exchange cue-card messages only on split-screen) finally (finally!) meet when Yaya Dub shows up at Broadway Centrum and compete against Alden as “wild cards” in Bulaga Pa More?

Lest I be branded a spoilsport, I won’t reveal what will really happen and instead just give you three guesses:

1. “Yes,” confirmed somebody in-the-know, “Alden and Yaya Dub will breathe the same air, but…”

2. Alden and Yaya Dub will “accidentally” cross paths as they rush into the studio for the Bulaga Pa More showdown; and

3. They will merely exchange loving glances, perhaps wink at each other and blow kisses at each other, but…

The question is: How will Alden and Yaya Dub compete against each other without them standing side by side as the segment contestants are usually made to do?

Will the AlDub Nation finally see their idols in a personal embrace and not just Alden kissing Yaya Dub on split-screen and, as he did yesterday, tenderly hug a Yaya Dub/Maine standee? Will something earth-shaking (deus ex machina) prevent the lovers from meeting face-to-face…in person!...and dissolve in an oft-postponed long, loving embrace?

Incidentally, could it be true that, as Alden’s That’s My Bae co-anchor Sam YG posted on his Instagram, that Alden brought home the Yaya Dub standee? Clue: Check the Broadway Centrum if it’s still there.

By the way, could it be true that Alden is falling for Yaya Dub for real? And vice-versa? Is that why Wally (and Jose Manalo as Tinidora) often comment that Alden and Yaya Dub (whom Alden has started addressing Yaya Dub by her real name Maine) forget that the whole scenario is make-believe (“Aktingan lang,” as Wally would put it)?

No problem. Alden said he is free and so is Maine. Flashback: Five years ago when Alden was a virtual nobody, Maine had a photo with him during an event sponsored by a fan magazine. Alden perhaps doesn’t remember that incident since dozens of fans would ask their idols for a photo-op or selfie. Maine was only 15 then and presumed to idolize Alden.

If ever they get together in real life, it would be fate bringing them together.
