Mossimo Music Summit winners
MANILA, Philippines - One-woman band Zsaris Mendioro emerged as the first winner of the Mossimo Music Summit 2015 at the grand finals held last Aug. 21 at the Trinoma Activity Center.
The 27-year-old musician from Laguna received the P200,000 cash grand prize, plus P300,000 worth of Mossimo gift certificates after garnering a score of 93.75 percent for both her performances that evening.
Loop artist Zsaris had the crowd clapping and singing along with her as she performed Pharrell Williams’ Happy and Rivermaya’s Himala, prompting one of the judges, Curve Entertainment’s Vic Valenciano, to call the rendition “perfect.”
Armed with a guitar, Zsaris proved in both performances that she needs no help in showing her talents.
Also part of Mossimo Music Summit 2015’s Big 4 was lounge singer Kristel Herrera who was first to perform in both rounds of the finals. Each performance the 22-year-old belter from Sampaloc stunned all four judges, starting with a strong cover of Beyonce’s Halo, which was followed by the OPM rock song Bonggahan by Sampaguita. Mossimo Music Summit will not be the last audiences will see of her.
Hailing from Pampanga was 20-year-old Mark Francis Reyes who first wowed the judges with his unique ability to switch between male and female keys in mid-song. He performed The Corrs’ Breathless and Yeng Constantino’s Ikaw.
The fourth and last but certainly not the least of the finalists to perform was the acoustic trio OTM. The group took the stage with an acoustic version of the summer anthem Geronimo by Sheppard. As last song, OTM performed Eraserheads’ Alapaap, which exhibited the members’ individual vocal and instrumental strengths.
The panel of judges also included MYX channel head Andre Alvarez, composer Jungee Marcelo and Callalily frontman Kean Cipriano.
