MANILA, Philippines – Rhap Salazar stands by his statement about practicing lip syncing.
“Wala po talaga akong pinagsisisihan sa sinabi ko,” said Rhap in an interview in “Aquino and Abunda Tonight” aired on Friday.
“Siguro ang thinking ko na lang is I really learned my lesson din about the word I used, na hindi ko rin talaga in-expect,” he added. “I’m being casual lang with the word hate. Siguro hindi ko naisip na sa Tagalog medyo malalim na talaga siya.”
In July, Rhap posted in his Twitter account the statement: “I hate seeing artists lip-syncing on TV.”

Although he clarified that on that post, what he condemns is the act of lip syncing, not the artists who practice it.
Many netizens who saw his tweet bashed him, believing that he was pertaining to their idols.
“I’m not pin-pointing any artists. It’s a general one,” he clarified. “So kung sino po siguro ang matamaan... actually wala po akong pinapatamaan. I’m just speaking for myself.”
He admitted that his posts was due to his “frustration” about the act of lip syncing, while him on the other hand is “doing my best every single day in the business in the past years as a singer.”
“Naglalabas po ako ng effort sa pagkanta, para i-share ‘yong talent ko sa ibang tao,” he added.
He may feel strongly about it but noted that he understands there are instances when it’s unavoidable to lip sync songs, especially if it’s health reasons.
In the end, Rhap said he respects all the comments and opinions expressed by the netizens and other personalities about the issue.
“Their comments and opinions inintindi ko lahat din. I’m very happy na nasabi ko ang gusto kong sabihin, na-express ko po ‘yong gusto kong i-express and sa side din nila, naintindihan ko rin po,” he concluded. - Joyce Jimenez
